When we found out my husband would be deploying, I ordered every children’s book on military separation I could find. When they started arriving in our mailbox, tears would fill my eyes each time I opened a package and saw sad faces staring at me from the cover. That was not what I wanted our daughter to think her life was going to be like. Her daddy is brave and loves her, and she is a strong little girl who would have happy memories of sending him care packages filled with all of our favorite things. That is the story I wanted to tell. And when I couldn't find the book that told that story, I decided to make my own! Fast forward a few years, and we have helped more than 700 families tell that same story to their children through "Daddy's Deployed" and "Mommy's Deployed."

But we didn't stop there. With the average military family moving eight times during their career, I found myself mentally writing "Home Is Where Our Hero Is" since we launched Daddy's Deployed back in 2012. Even though North Carolina was our third PCS, it is our first "home." I can't help but think how bittersweet it will be to leave here, or imagine how our gal will adjust to a new house, in a new neighborhood, with new friends. With this book, I wanted to help military children understand what PCSing is all about and hopefully make the "big move" a little less intimidating...and a lot more fun!

As always, thank you for allowing us to be a part of your family, and thank you for being a part of ours. We look forward to continue supporting you through all aspects of your military journey.
